About Us
Ouletcity Metzingen is a magnet for fashion lovers worldwide. The true City of Fashion attracts over 4 million visitors per year. The business unit of OUTLETCITY AG has been a trendsetter from its inception as it is considered a pioneer of factory outlet centres in Europe. Aiming to fully digitalise its business, Outletcity launched the eponymous online shop in 2012 and again confirmed its role of precursor.
The vision to offer every visitor the best shopping experience at any touchpoint is inspiration and motivation at the same time and is worked towards every day with passion and a spirit of innovation. Similar to the past, when the home of Hugo Boss was already well known for its thriving textile industry.

1924
A name that enters fashion history
The establishment of the Boss tailor shop by Hugo Ferdinand Boss is of high significance for the origins of the Outletcity. Over the following years, Boss suits take men’s fashion by storm.
1972
Number 1 in factory sale
Grandsons Uwe and Jochen Holy manage the company and start the first factory sale. A simple idea that positions the company as a pioneer.
1997
Number 1 in Germany
The brands Bally, Escada and Joop!, alongside Hugo Boss, are the foundation for the further development of Outletcity Metzingen. The first factory outlet in Germany is born.
2012
Number 1 in the online environment worldwide
The first online shop of an outlet destination is successfully launched: outletcity.com. Today the shop offers a selection of over 350 premium and luxury brands which in part differ from the range in Metzingen.
2019
New look, new perspective
The year of highlights! In Metzingen the new Gaenslen & Völter Areal section opens with 16 additional stores including the world’s largest BOSS outlet. At the same time, the launch of the Outletcity app takes shopping to a smart level. The digital tool provides visitors with a shopping assistant and the Outletcity Club with its benefits: members collect points and are rewarded for their loyalty
2020
Largest outlet in Europe*
New protagonists augment the portfolio of Outletcity: with the opening of the new area Enzian Höfe Home, Beauty & Living stores provide a first-class shopping experience that reaches into one’s home.
2023
Metropole flair for extended stays
The grand opening of the fashion and lifestyle Moxy hotel is one of the great highlights of the year. Tommy's coffee and their new outdoor terrace with a chic courtyard ambience is also being celebrated alongside THE GALLERY, a new location that can be used as an event space for art and culture, networking or celebrations in a private atmosphere.
2024
New Outletcity Welcome Center
With the opening of the new Welcome Center, all of our information and services will be united under one roof. The stylish ambiance houses concierge services that leave no guests wish unfulfilled thanks to their expertise in tailored experiences. A curated circle of guests is also afforded exclusive acces to a private room: The Lounge. And The Atalier's exquisite atmosphere is the perfect space to enjoy professional style coaching and find the perfect outlet with our Personal Shopping experience.
